Rediscovering Nordhavn in pursuit of lost moments.

In the ever-evolving cityscape of Copenhagen, there are places to which my soul is tethered, returning time and again. Rapidly transforming, they beckon with fresh motifs and untold stories.

My early sojourns to Nordhavn unveiled a landscape of industrial terrains, desolate edifices, and a melting pot of subterranean cultures. Those of a certain vintage might recall the towering silo etched with big writing on the side “Hvad drikker Møller, – What do Mo(ø)ller drink”. When shouted loudly, Møller echo “øller”, and “øller” mean beer. So Møller drinks beer. Very deep.

A beacon visible from afar, accompanying commuters on their S-train journeys. Many found it quite funny, and was further more a proof of the amazing street artists and painters the city has.

I distinctly remember an expedition within that very building. Climbing its countless stairs to reach the rooftop, I stumbled upon a floor strewn with hundreds of keys – a sight of baffling mystique. Known to shelter the homeless, the building’s walls were silent witnesses to countless untold tales.

That image remains etched in my mind, and to this day, I rue the missed chance of capturing it through my lens. Perhaps, it is this pang of regret that draws me back, in pursuit of reliving that moment. We are creatures of habit, after all.

Today, Nordhavn stands reborn – sleek, chic, and exorbitantly fashionable.

Perhaps, this is why I keep returning – in pursuit of that elusive moment, hoping to relive that encounter.
