VANAh โ The Firm: A Sci-Fi Short Film Exploring Privacy, Identity, and Potatoes in a Dystopian Future
The project
A short sci-fi film set in a near future where privacy and personality have lost their value, and the currency of the day is dataโyour mind, body, and everything in between.
In this world, society is overwhelmed by advanced technology, genetic engineering, and the commodification of consciousness. The film blends art, science fiction, and dark humor, following two individuals navigating these profound and unsettling changes.
A dominant liberal philosophy thrives, promising equality for allโas long as your finances and ambitions align with the conglomerateโs vision. Under the banner of “Your safety is our highest priority,” this dystopian narrative questions the cost of such promises and what we stand to lose in a world ruled by data.
Shot guerilla-style on location in North Zealand, Denmark, with limited resources, the project demanded creativity and resourcefulness. The result was a film that exceeded expectations. VANAh โ The Firm earned critical acclaim, winning top prizes at prestigious film festivals in Paris, Milan, London, and Florence.
This film represents a pivotal moment in my filmmaking journey, demonstrating the power of storytelling, strategic direction, and collaboration. Through this innovative narrative, VANAh โ The Firm sparks conversation and contemplation about the future of privacy, technology, and our place in a rapidly evolving world.
