I think the beauty of these backyards is in their ordinariness.
I found myself drawn to the backyards of Vesterbro, not because they’re grand or dramatic, but because they feel like forgotten pockets of a life that’s been lived in loops. These spaces are quiet (sometimes), yes, but they hum with a rhythm that’s hard to ignore. There’s a kind of stillness that makes you pause, like the city itself is holding its breath.
The routines here are familiar, almost too familiar. The same shadows stretch across the same cobblestones, the same voices echo from the same windows. It’s a place where time feels suspended, where the past and present blur into something that feels both ancient and new.
