Empty streets, echoing stories.

In the heart of Copenhagen lies a street, usually bustling with life, now captured in a moment of unexpected solitude. This is ‘Empty’ – a photograph that transcends mere imagery to become a narrative of absence and presence. The store on the corner, perpetually closed, becomes a silent protagonist in this urban tableau.

As a woman wanders through the frame, her heavy steps echoed in the stillness, she is momentarily caught in a beam of light, adding layers of intrigue to an already enigmatic scene.

This image, one of my signature photographs, has journeyed across the globe, gracing exhibitions and contributing significantly to my identity as a photographic artist.

It represents a moment of stillness in the perpetual motion of urban life, a snapshot of the hidden side of a city that never sleeps.

YICCA is an international call for artists, open to professionals and not only from any country in the world. All kinds of contemporary artworks are allowed in the art contest: drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, graphics, mix media, video, installations and performances. The competition’s aim is to promote the enrolled artist, giving them chance to join the international market of contemporary art.

Internationality and networking make this art call a huge chance for the artists, which can win a cash prize and have the opportunity to exhibit the submitted works in an art gallery of a European city. Jury’s final decision will lead to a selection of 18 artists that will participate in the final exhibition.

Copenhagen Photo Festival
The Censored Exhibition is an international group exhibition that seeks to present a contemporary selection of international fine-art photography.

In 2019, Copenhagen Photo Festival theme was Framing Vision, Framing Society and Framing Identity.

Kasper Christiansen’s Some of us depicts people in Copenhagen at night, often along the way from place to place.

He does not engage with anything, but a part of their lives, or of their history, is observed.

The jury has selected Kasper Christiansen’s work for its ability to transform the well-known Copenhagen into places with a unique aura of strangeness, making them almost impossible to recognize.

This photograph is a testament to the power of the visual in creating magic, unveiling stories, and revealing secrets.
